Healthy Children Learn Better!
If your child is obviously ill he or she should stay at home to rest and get better. Students must be fever-free for 24 hours without taking any fever reducing medication. If your child has vomited the night before or morning of school they need to stay at home. Frequent or severe coughing and nasal congestion (if not related to allergies) are also reasons to keep your student home.
Illness/Injury: If your child is ill or injured during school hours, he/she will be assessed by a School Nurse, Health Assistant, Teacher or Office Staff. You may not be contacted each time your child visits the school health office. In the event your child appears to have a serious illness/injury, every effort will be made to notify you. Please be sure all phone numbers and health care information is kept current throughout the school year. You may also be notified through ParentSquare for non-urgent concerns.
Children with a temperature of 100 degrees or higher, vomiting and/or diarrhea, or other symptoms of illness that are likely contagious will be sent home. Please keep students home from school until they remain symptom free and fever-free (below 100 degrees) for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.
Children with other symptoms of a possibly communicable disease will also be sent home from school at the discretion of the school nurse or Health Assistant. If your child has been diagnosed with a possibly contagious illness, such as flu, strep throat or pink eye (conjunctivitis) please notify the school nurse and keep your child at home until they are well enough to return to school.
